“We are thrilled to have a beautiful new wildplay area for our visitors at Emmetts Garden. The handcrafted detail with roses inspired by the garden makes it all the more special. Our audience have given us nothing but positive feedback on this amazing new installation. Huge thanks to Earth Wrights for being such a great company to work with!”

– Chelsea Pettit, General Manager, Chartwell Portfolio

Our wild play area at Emmets Garden, for the National Trust, takes its inspiration from this location’s rose garden. It features relief carvings of both highly cultivated roses and wild dog roses, suggesting a transition from the formal setting back out into nature.

A treasure trail of rose carvings gives everyone a reason to go exploring. The play tower features both adventure and small-world creativity, meaning the age ranges can mix happily. The cedar-tiled nature table references one of the outbuildings on the site. A hangout net is somewhere to lie back and gaze up at the trees.

Earth and sky, woods and fields, lakes and rivers, the mountain and the sea, are excellent schoolmasters, and teach some of us more than we can ever learn from books.
